For as long as I can remember, I've loved creating things. What began with LEGO soon turned into a passion for games, words, stories, and movies (of course, I'm still crazy about LEGO).
In middle school, I wanted to be a board game designer. In high school, I wanted to be a playwright. In college, I wanted to be a novelist. So, of course, I ended up a computer programmer. Programming was creative, challenging, and paid the bills. But I soon discovered screenwriting and filmmaking and there was no looking back.
I worked hard at the craft, writing countless scripts and shooting short films. Over the years, I worked as a director, screenwriter, cinematographer, editor, screenplay consultant, and even a film festival judge. Eventually, I even won some awards and started teaching at night school.
Teaching turned out to be so much fun that I opened NJ Film School, where I taught thousands of kids, teens, and adults - many of whom have gone on to work in the industry and win their own awards. After 15 years, I took a break, and I was finally able to make my first feature-length film, The Strange Dark. It came out in 2026 and you can find it streaming on Amazon Prime and Apple TV.
Recently, my beautiful, endlessly understanding, and supportive wife, Elizabeth, and I moved from our hometown of New Providence to Gillette, New Jersey. Some things don't change and I continue to play soccer twice a week with the same friends I have since 1990 (even if our game has slowed dramatically).
Our daughter, Joanna, is a very talented preschool teacher working on her first novel (a cozy murder mystery). Our equally talented son-in-law, Kevin, opened NJ Game Table, where he leads Dungeons & Dragons games for kids, teens, and adults. You'll often find me there helping out behind the front desk, or maybe even playing as a sneaky elf or a friendly but illiterate half-orc.
These days, I've dropped off social media and I'm semi-retired, but you can follow all my escapades right here. I still teach and lecture part-time, and I'm always creating things: stories, games, and lists.
